Carpet Vacuums

By admin February 6th, 2009

A carpet enhances the appearance of the room. However, carpets attract a lot of dust and stains and have to be cleaned on a regular basis.

Cleaning dust and dirt from between the fibers of the carpet is a tricky process. With the help of carpet vacuums this process becomes easier. Most of the carpet cleaners remove dust from fibers with the help of the brush roll. This has to be done at least two or three times if the amount of dirt is more. This is especially the case in areas with high traffic.

If the carpet is light in weight and delicate, it has to be cleaned with more care. Carpet vacuums come with attachments like the attachment wand or the bare floor setting. These vacuums are ideally used at least twice a day to maintain cleanliness especially in high traffic areas.

There is a common misconception that carpet vacuums harm carpets by spoiling the fibers. Actually, dirt and dust accumulated in the carpet fibers are more harmful and spoil the carpets than using a vacuum cleaner to keep them clean. In order to avoid any damage to carpet fibers, it is recommended to stick to the bare floor setting in the vacuum cleaner.

Therefore, there is no need to get hyped up when you see fluff and fibers of the carpet in the garbage bag or bin of the vacuum cleaner. Vacuuming carpets with good carpet vacuums even twice or thrice a week will not result in any kind of damage to the carpet. Only if the dirt, dust and grime is left behind that actual damage occurs. The carpet becomes a storehouse of bacteria and dust mites and fibers start loosening.

For best results, it is recommended to vacuum in one direction. Overlap sufficiently to ensure all areas of the carpet are covered. Direction can be changed periodically as it prevents matting of fibers. Corners can be effectively cleaned with the help of the crevice tool attachment found in carpet vacuums. Alternately, corners can also cleant with the help of a wet or damp cloth.
